Residential glass doors spec at 3/8" tempered or 1/2" tempered. 3/8" is standard across most interior and pivot installations; 1/2" is the upgrade for wider panels, heavier hardware, or premium entry-door work. Hardware shapes the look as much as the glass itself: pivot pins, wall-mount hinges, glass-to-glass hinges, handles, pulls, clamps, and sweeps each carry the door's weight and read in the room. Finish options run brushed nickel, matte black, polished chrome, oil-rubbed bronze, brushed gold, and satin brass, coordinated to the room's plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware so nothing reads out of step. Glass type options include clear standard float, low-iron for an ultra-clear look, frosted or acid-etched for privacy, and textured or patterned for design-forward installations.
