Most custom commercial glazing specs at 3/8" tempered for standard partitions or 1/2" tempered for larger spans and acoustic upgrades, with 3/4" tempered available for architectural-span applications. Laminated configurations are spec'd where impact-rated, acoustic, security, or bullet-resistant assemblies apply. Glass types include clear, low-iron, custom-tinted, frosted (acid-etched or sandblasted), textured, back-painted, fire-rated, and bullet-resistant layups, all confirmed at the spec-review stage.
Edge work (polished, beveled, or seamed) and shape cuts (curved spans, notched corners, door cutouts, hinge holes, handle locations, panic-hardware mounts) are finished in-shop before tempering, because no edge or shape work can be done after a panel is tempered. Hardware options include channel-set and clamp-mounted glazing, patch fittings, panic hardware where code-required, and closers and pivots. Each panel is heated, rapidly quenched, and inspected in-shop, leaving the glass 4 to 5 times stronger than annealed and producing the small-pebble break pattern required by ANSI Z97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201 Cat. II.
